"Positive Strengths"

Lisa Sansom

Workshop 1 A

Research shows that we get a lot more energy and oomph in our work and life by building on strengths rather than working to overcome weaknesses. Of course, it is important to develop those weaknesses that are getting in your way, but finding and creating work that aligns with your strengths and using those strengths every day will help you be more engaged and productive at work, and that has positive ripple effects into the other parts of your life.

Lisa Sansom has changed careers at least three times in her life so far. She started out as a high school French teacher, became an Organizational Development consultant, and is now a certified coach working with leaders, teams and individuals. Lisa has also taught at the college level, given parenting workshops and spoken at conferences. Throughout all of these careers, common threads of strengths emerge. Lisa’s top strengths include Relator, Learner, Input, Achiever and Maximizer.

Workshop 2 A

"Personal Branding: Beyond a Resume"
Patti Church

Participants will learn the latest approaches and tools used for personal branding and career marketing.  A resume is a corner stone of your person brand but your story can now take many different forms. Before you start marketing what you have to offer, you have to spend the time to determine your message and the theme to your brand.  We’re all marketers when it comes to career advancement and career readiness.  During this session, we will discover your personal brand keywords, avenues for presenting your brand and methods for networking using the latest social media tools.

Patti Church is a co-founder of Why Hire Me, a part-time professor and an innovation consultant at Algonquin College.  She has taught both marketing and success skills courses in the School of Business and the School of Advanced Technology over the past 5 years. Patti also offers consulting services in the areas of social media, career marketing and branding strategy.  Patti has been recognized at Algonquin with the Part-Time Faculty Award in 2010 and in her community again in 2010 when she was awarded Leading Women Building Communities by the Government of Ontario.
