Our Philosophy
Children
are individuals with unique talents, capabilities and aspirations.
These qualities need to be nurtured in order for children to flourish
in their development. Children who have known respect will value
themselves and others.
Children have a natural sense of curiosity. We hope to facilitate
this by providing a stimulating, healthy and caring environment.
If the magical early steps of discovering are accentuated with enjoyment,
children will thrive.
Children are social. The early emotional bonds are fostered through
a loving accepting environment where their own special uniqueness
is nurtured. Our quest is to encourage each child's talents and
uniqueness, and support each child in their daily task of knowing
and valuing themselves. We accept each child as special and exceptional.
Children are creative. These young artists of song, dance, paint
and thought infuse their own individuality into every experience
they encounter. Their own unique sense of self is evident in their
manner of expressing themselves and in the special way they magically
experience everything from music to sunshine.
Children are active. They need to stand, hop, step, jump, roll,
tumble, leap and run. The desire to know and explore actively is
the essence of childhood. Children's energy is the motivation to
discover; to try; to do; to understand; and, to learn. Children
are action!
We recognize that children experience life at their own level.
We support this by accepting each child for their uniqueness and
challenging their own interests, talents and abilities. Each child's
individuality will be recognized and respected. When children are
valued, they will be confident to develop their own potential. Children
will be encouraged to face new experiences and to know that it is
not the success or the failure that is important, but the growing
that occurs.
Our environment promotes each child's sense of autonomy by providing
choices. These choices allow each child to discover according to
their own interests. Choices are provided to support each child
in the problem solving process, or in situations where they are
experiencing a challenge. Children are always encouraged to express
their needs in order to promote their own sense of self. In allowing
a child to choose appropriately, each child becomes increasingly
self-directed and consequently acquires greater self esteem.
The Centre for Early Childhood Education strives to create a supportive
family atmosphere in which the care given is an extension of the
home. During the early childhood years it is essential to establish
a positive partnership between home and the Centre. Our quest is
to provide young children with a caring, accepting, magical and
discovering childhood.
A happy childhood is the finest gift we can give to our children.
