1. Why do I need
to fill out an application?
The application form tells Loyalist College Centre for Early Childhood
Education that you may need child care for your child. The information
you give helps us make informed decisions. Please complete all sections
- all sections are important - an overlooked area may slow down
the process.
2. What does the application form do?
The form tells us who you are, who your child is, when
you need care, what group of child care your child will need when.
Also if you need a subsidized or full fee space.
3. What are the fees?
We have full fees and subsidized fees. The subsidized rate
is based on the County of Hastings' calculation for families who
have financial need. Please contact Tammi Mitts at 966-8032
4. What is subsidy?
It is calculated for families with financial need. Families may
qualify for 1OO% of their fees to be paid by this process.
5. If I am a student does other funding apply?
If investigating OSAP please call Pearl Vani-Hill at 969-1913

Often OSAP grants/loans will affect eligibility to qualify for
subsidized childcare. It is recommended to seek subsidy assistance
for childcare from the County of Hastings and not utilize 0SAP for
childcare fees.
6. What are the subsidized rates?
Depending on calculations individuals may receive 100%
subsidy or a partial amount.
7. What is the waiting list?
It is the process that records all the application requests
for childcare. Our requests for child care outnumbers our spaces.
Therefore applications are often not accommodated or a wait is is
involved.
8. How does it work?
When the application is received all the needed forms and
fees are attached. We need-. the application fee, the completed
form and the public health form. We record needed dates for care
and enter your request on our waiting list. In January and June
of each year child care decisions are made.
9. Am I guaranteed a spot?
Unfortunately no. The need is always more than our capacity.
10. How long will it take?
Depending on the age of your child , maybe 6 - 12 months.
Often we are unable to meet your need in the time frame requested.
11. How many spaces are for students?
Up to 32.
12. How many spaces are for community/staff?
6 - 8
13. What is the application fee for?
This fee is for office services, mailing and processing.
N.S.F. cheques - If your cheque is returned N.S.F. a $25.00 fee
will be applied and your application will not be entered on the
waiting list. You will be billed for N.S.F. fees.
14. How/when will I know if I do have a space?
You will be called. Please call us if you have a phone
or address change.
15. How/when will I know if I don't have a space?
A letter will be mailed to you, please let us know if your
mailing address changes.
16. How long can/will I be on the 'waiting' list?
As long as you request it, providing you have not turned
down a spcce.
17. What if a space is offered and it is not a good time
for my child care needs?
You will have to re-apply.
