Admissions

Admissions OfficeWelcome to Admissions!

Each student entering Loyalist has an Admissions/Records Officer who processes your acceptance, and works with you to ensure that you complete the registration process each semester, that your marks are properly processed and that your diploma is prepared for graduation.

Apply now for programs starting in September 2004!

Application Procedure
Are you ready to apply? All applications to Loyalist College are processed through:

Ontario College Application Service (OCAS)
P.O. Box 810
370 Speedvale Avenue West
Guelph, Ontario N1H 6M4
Canada
Telephone: (519) 763-4725
Toll-free: 1-888-892-2228

The Details:
The Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) receives and records applications and student responses to college offers of admission. A $65.00 fee (payable to the Ontario College Application Service) must accompany the application form.

Students currently enroled in an Ontario secondary school may apply on the application form supplied to them at secondary school. Other applicants may obtain the application form directly from any college of applied arts and technology or
secondary school in Ontario, or directly from OCAS. Applicants may apply electronically through the OCAS website: www.ontariocolleges.ca

Applicants may select up to five choices with no more than three program choices at any one college. An applicant may accept only one offer of admission. The confirmation of acceptance must be returned directly to OCAS on the form provided.

If you are currently attending secondary school at the time of application, complete the applicant's section of the form and have your school office send whatever grades are available. Should mid-term marks not be available, courses in which the
applicant is enroled should be entered without marks. Final grades must be forwarded when they become available. Grade 12 students who apply are accepted conditionally and must provide evidence of obtaining the OSSD (30 credits), including the courses required by the program applied to, prior to being registered.

Where the applicant has completed more than one course that qualifies as the "required" course, and where the grade received for this course is used in determining the admissions' score of the applicant, the course with the higher final grade is used.

Transfer from Other Ontario Colleges and Other Post-Secondary Institutions
Applicants who have successfully completed a portion of a program at an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology will be accepted into the same or a similar program at Loyalist College with appropriate transfer credits for training and education already completed.

Loyalist is committed to maximize the accessibility of all of its programs to learners with partial or complete credentials from colleges or universities. Applicants
with training at other institutions are advised to submit their documentation of such formal education to Loyalist at the time of application.

Loyalist Students Eligible to Re-enrol in a College Program
Qualified continuing students need only to register at Loyalist to advance directly from one year to the next. Part-time students or individuals who wish to re-enrol in a program after sitting out one or more semesters must re-apply by using an internal Loyalist College application, available from the Admissions Office. All first-year students or new students must submit an application to OCAS.

Geographical Selection Preference
Students are admitted in the following order of preference:
(i) permanent resident of Ontario;
(ii) permanent resident of other provinces and territories
in Canada;
(iii) applicants from other countries.
NOTE: Applicants under clauses (i) and (ii) must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Permanent residents without Canadian citizenship must provide proof of their status. Applicants under clause (iii) must obtain a student visa, valid for the academic year to which they are applying.
