Chemistry
Chemistry provides chemistry instruction in 12 areas of first-year college
chemistry: mathematical reviews, atomic and molecular structure, chemical
names of inorganic compounds, the mole, chemical equations, gasses, stoichiometry,
solutions, energy changes, chemical equilibrium and electrochemistry.
Each section includes a video lesson, an example of a typical problem,
and problems for you to test your understanding of the concepts.
Corel Chemlab
Corel Chemlab simulates a laboratory where you perform high-school level
chemistry experiments with the same instruments located in a modern laboratory.
You have the freedom to perform and view your own experiments, or choose
from a selection of preset experiments. You can view and print a complete
list of every step in any experiment. Experiments are divided into five
categories: physical properties, acid/base, kinetics, the gas lab and
additional experiments.
Electric Chemistry Building
You can move from room to room in the simulated chemistry lab, pick up
chemicals from the storeroom, take them to the bench, and perform experiments,
all safely on the computer screen. The Electric Chemistry Building is
a large scale microworld simulation of an inorganic chemistry laboratory.
Check out the ECB library for information on a chemical’s properties and
history. The manual and disk are available by the main office door in
CAL.

Orientation to WHMIS
This WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training
program addresses requirements for WHMIS Certification as set by government
standards. This six-part course is comprised of: What Is WHMIS?, Hazardous
Symbols, Supplier Labels, Workplace Labels, Data Sheets, and Responsibilities.
Topics covered include hazards of controlled products, safe storage, handling
and emergency procedures. These lessons must be done in order and certification
is granted with an 80% mark in the quiz at the end of the lessons.
Super Tutor Chemistry
Are you feeling overwhelmed by chemistry? Super Tutor Chemistry provides
self-paced, interactive, and stimulating tutorials which clearly explain
the fundamentals of chemistry. Super Tutor Chemistry will help you make
sense of chemistry concepts, formulas, reactions, and equations. After
each of the 23 comprehensive lessons, you can test your understanding
with exciting quizzes. Whether you are looking for help with class work,
or seeking an effective way to prepare for SAT and other college placement
exams, this program is a solid foundation from which to learn.
The Chemistry of Life
The Chemistry of Life learning resource has detailed lessons on these
topics: atoms and molecules, reactions and equilibrium, water, acids,
bases and PH, organic molecules, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic
acids, enzymes and pathways. Take a quiz after each section and put your
knowledge to the test, but don’t panic if you can’t remember, because
there is a review option for each question asked. After your quizzes take
the final exam and prove you know the Chemistry of Life.
