Business Math Tutorial
Business Math covers many math problems commonly found in everyday business
practices: labour forecasts, expense reports, budgets, purchase orders,
invoices, and inventory reports. The mathematical explanations are presented
through easy, step-by-step instructions and lesson introductions.
Learning Plus: Math
Learning Plus, developed by the Educational Testing Service, offers 105
hours of instruction in reading, writing and math (35 hours each). A pretest
in each area determines which lessons are “strongly recommended”, “recommended”
and “optional” and highlights the lessons accordingly. A handbook is available
with all lessons, which offers more exercises on each topic. You may take
as long as you need to complete the lessons. The $20 software fee includes
access to all components: reading, writing and math. Post-tests are included.
Math Lab
All Math Lab packages offer approximately 20 menu items and provide practice
questions at three levels of difficulty. Choose the level of difficulty
and the number of questions you want. Math Lab will tell you if you have
answered the question correctly. After two incorrect answers, the correct
answer is given. The following Math Lab titles are available: Pre-Algebra,
Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Finite Mathematics and Statistics
Calculus. Sample questions are available in the manual, which along with
the disk, is located outside the main office in CAL.
Math Master Reference
Math Master contains five complete reference books for college mathematics:
algebra, trigonometry, geometry, statistics and calculus. Each subject
is discussed thoroughly and is accompanied with easy-to-follow examples
and illustrations.
Back to top MathVille
MathVille is a computer simulation of a village where you use your math
skills to solve everyday problems. Explore the city of MathVille as you
solve math problems in order to earn money to shop, eat and play. You
can choose the level of difficulty and change levels at any time throughout
this game-like exercise.
MedMath
MedMath Master Review is an interactive computer program used to review
and strengthen the mathematical concepts most helpful in solving medication
problems encountered in everyday nursing practices. Topics include notes
and instructions, common fractions, decimal numbers and fractions, percentages,
ratios and proportions, systems of measurement, solving medication problems
and solving I.V. flow rates.
SkillsBank
SkillsBank covers core concepts in basic and intermediate math. Pre-tests
are available in eight competency areas: number concepts, computation,
word problems, measurement and geometry, proportion and percent, introduction
to algebra, geometry, statistics and probability. Each of the pre-tests
assigns (or not) lessons based on the results. Math instruction is thus
individualized to the student’s needs. SkillsBank is one of Loyalist’s
most popular learning packages, with over 1,000 students using it annually.
Trigonometry
Trigonometry starts at the basics and works through square roots, the
Pythagorean theorem, 30° - 60° triangles, 45° triangles, right-angle triangles,
and oblique and congruent triangles. You are also introduced to analytical
trigonometry, identities, polar equations, and conic sections in polar
form. The Trigonometry menu offers the following topics: Triangle and
Angle Measurements, Solving Triangles, Triangle Applications, Graphing
Trigonometric Functions, Identities and Equations, Complex Numbers and
Trigonometric Form, Polar Curves, and Conic Sections in Polar Form.
Back to top Calculus and Algebra
Algebra II
Algebra II provides complete coverage of topics such as conic systems,
radicals and exponents, advanced operations on polynomials, solving systems
of linear equations and inequalities. There are easy-to-follow tutorials
in 54 key subject areas and over 500 practice problems with step-by-step
solutions.
Calculus
Calculus contains an entire college textbook - “Calculus with Analytical
Geometry” as well as the Student Solutions Manual. It also includes The
Calculus Companion, a tutorial and review with examples to enhance your
learning with explanations and audio lectures that preface each chapter
Complete Algebra
Complete Algebra contains eight topics: Introduction to number systems,
numbers and operations, equations and inequalities, operations on polynomials,
graphic linear equations, factoring algebraic expressions, operations
on rational expressions and solving systems on linear equations. Each
topic contains at least five different lessons with examples, solutions
and hints. There is a calculator if you forget yours at home, and Score
keeps track of your progress.
Middle School Suite
Middle School Math Suite puts a personal tutor in your PC. The program
covers basic math for anyone in need of improving their math skills. Topics
include arithmetic review, fractions, decimals, ratios and proportions,
weights and measures, metric system, geometric figures and algebra. Self-help
tutorials guide you through over a 100 key subject areas. Over 1000 exercises
with step-by-step solutions can build your skills effectively.
