Career Cruising
Career Cruising is a reference guide with information on 145 different occupations,
from an assembly line worker to an X-ray technologist. Multimedia interviews
with over 400 professionals are available. These interviews will give you
the nuts and bolts of a particular profession, just like meeting with a
real person from that field. The program contains 145 job descriptions with
current salary ranges, working hours, required educations and skills, and
working conditions for a related field. A sample career path which sets
out responsibilities and salary ranges at various levels of seniority is
also included.
Career Path
Career Path is an exciting adventure that will help you learn who you
are, what career you want, and how to get the career you want. The first
module is designed to help you know yourself better. By answering a series
of questions, you will discover your primary interests, values, abilities,
and I.Q. level. A seven-page report is then printed, listing 20 to 40
careers matched to your interests. In the second module, you will determine
which of these careers are best for you, and how they fit your life goals.
After narrowing these careers to one or two which are best suited for
you, the final module will assist you in preparing for your career selection.
Support is provided on preparing resumes, cover letters, and making the
most of job interviews.
College Placement Tests (CPT's)
The College Placement Tests are being used or piloted by 15 post-secondary
institutions in Ontario as part of admission or placement process. The
CPTs are intended to give you a rank compared with other first-year college
students, and are available in several categories: Sentence Skills, Reading
Comprehension, Algebra, Mathematics, College Math, and English as a Second
Language. By teacher referral only.
I.Q. Builder
Measure your intelligence with the I.Q. Builder by testing your skills
in verbal and numeric I.Q. tests. Practice tests and theory lessons are
included. This program provides good preparation for standardized job
placement tests.
