SALE – Business Sales and Marketing

Coordinator: Brad Baragar

School of Business & Applied Arts

September Entry

Program Length:
Two-Year Diploma

Career Opportunities:
Each year hundreds of companies offer career opportunities in sales. Over a million people are employed in the sales profession, and more than 2,000 new salespeople are hired each year in manufacturing, service, and business sales. Graduates of the Business Sales and Marketing program can expect to find positions as account representatives, detailed or non-technical salespeople, in a variety of large or small companies. Loyalist Sales graduates are working coast-to-coast. The training provided at Loyalist enables many graduates to move quickly into managerial positions.

Program Description:
The Business Sales and Marketing program pioneered post-secondary sales training in North America in 1985. It is considered a leader in post-secondary sales training, offering interactive and intensive business-to-business sales training. The program uses state-of-the-art equipment, video training labs, and computer software to help the student become adept in both transactional and commodity selling.

After this intensive training, each graduate will have received the necessary sales skills and competencies to help them become leading candidates for a variety of sales positions in different fields. To date, 90% of our graduates get sales positions with leading Canadian companies.

In the second year, students spend much of their time developing their sales skills by interacting in practical sales workshops. Each student has a unique opportunity to role-play in different situations, selling business-related products and services. The role-plays require relationship building, fact-finding, strategic planning, and presentations, using a consultative approach.

Approximate Costs (2003– 2004):
Students must provide all the expenses during internships (internships are the responsibility of the student and a requirement for graduating) and placement periods including mandatory job shadows. Text books and other supplies are available at the College Bookstore.
