Career Opportunities:
Graduates of Computer Engineering programs work in a broad range
of employment settings in both large and small organizations. Their
activities involve the development of systems solutions, for opportunities
and problems which have been identified within an organization.
Their functions include: determining system requirements; designing,
implementing, and maintaining the architecture for computer systems
and networks; analyzing and troubleshooting system and network operational
problems; developing and integrating software applications with
information systems; integrating networking technologies with information
systems; designing and implementing a database; supervising and
training others; and designing and managing an information server.
Program Description:
The first two years of the program provide the student with a solid
foundation in analog and digital electronics, and a good working
knowledge of computers and computer networks. Students learn to
program in C++ and microprocessor assembly language. Network operating
systems and databases are discussed in detail.
If students elect to continue with the third year of the program,
they learn about other network operating systems, including UNIX,
Windows NT, Java, and advanced digital systems.
